Katha Kathmandu movie review: This controversial flick is not about sex

The first thing that you need to be clear about this week’s Kollywood release Katha Kathmandu is that it is not about sex, not at all. The producers have not intended to sell sex in the movie, though it might be the case in the trailer. It is also not an artistic effort against increasing incidents of violence against women as was claimed by its lead Priyanka Karki.

The movie, rather, is a documentary-style presentation of three models of psychological behaviour that people often associate with love and relationships. From a Freudian perspective, the three stories represent the id, the ego and the superego. If the makers of the movie were able to establish a proper connection among the three stories, it would have been an exemplary feature film with a potential to buck the trend. The movie misses the chance as the link among the stories is as loose as a cobweb.

Country reports 170 VAW cases in a month

Kathmandu – A total of 170 cases of violence against women occurred in the country in a month. The report unveiled by the Women Rehabilitation Center (WOREC) shows that in a period from August 17 to September 16 this year, 48 women were raped, 35 subjected to physical assaults and 18 faced other sorts of violence and discrimination including the deprivations like denial of food and shelter.
Similarly, 17 became the victims of mental tortures due to verbal abuse, threat and character assassination, 13 suffered sexual harassment and 12 were killed. Among them, the highest number of population (31per cent) belongs to 17-25 age group and 25 per cent are under 16 years of age.

Likewise, 21 % belong to 26-35 age-group, 9% belong to 36-45 age group, 7% are above 46 years old and the age group of remaining seven group has not been ascertained.

The reports state that six women and girls became the victims of acid attacks in the past one year. Refusals to proposals for marriage, love affairs or sexual relations, dowry issue and other minor disputes were the reasons behind such crime.

Biography of Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo  was born on February 5, 1985, in Madeira, Portugal . His full Name is dos Santos Aveiro. He is a son of  Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro and José Diniz Aveiro.  His name was inspired by the former US-president, Ronald Reagan, whom his father was influenced by.Cristiano has an elder brother, Hugo and two elder sisters, Elma and Liliana Cátia.he is  unmarried football player . he  has a  adopt  son and girlfriend.

Nepal will savour the opportunity to play against some of the best sides of the world when they begin their ACC U-19 Asia Cup campaign against India at the Krira Shikkha Protisthan in Dhaka on Saturday.

Although Nepal had broken their 17-year long losing streak to India with the 19-run win over the Test-giants in the previous edition in Malaysia last year, they will still go into the tournament as title contenders. Nepal had succumbed to both the India ‘A’ and India ‘B’ teams in a Quadrangular U-19 One Day Series in Lucknow two weeks earlier. Nepali coach Binod Das guided Nepal to that historic victory in Malaysia but he wants to leave the feat behind and start afresh considering the dismal showing in Lucknow.
We have an opportunity to play against the best team in the world at U-19 level. So we would try to put on the best effort regardless of the opponents,” Das said from Dhaka. With defending champions Afghanistan and United Arab Emirates (UAE) up next, Nepal would take the match as a platform to prepare for next games in their bid to reach the semi-finals.

Das had led Nepal to their first ever U-19 Asia Cup semi-finals last year and knows his side is close again to repeat that feat. “There is no doubt that India are among the best teams and having played against them recently, we all know where we stand against them,” added the coach.

“It’s going to be tough but not impossible. We are expecting an improved performance. We have trained hard and tried to get better, especially in batting. If we can bat the way we did in our practice games, we will be able to compete well against them,” Das said.

Nepal made four changes to the squad that competed in the Quadrangular Series with national team’s emerging talent Rohit Kumar Paudel being the key one. Paudel was released from the national squad to join the U-19 team. Nandan Yadav, Surya Tamang and Rabindra Jung Shahi were called-up to replace Kishor Mahato, Lokesh Bam and Bipin Rawal.

A major concern for Nepal once again will be their batting department, particularly the opening pair, which didn’t fare well against Indian teams and Afghanistan in Lucknow. Skipper Aasif Sheikh, Ravi Shah, Trit Raj Das, Rit Gautam and Arun Airee were tried for the opening slot but the team hardly got the desired start.

Ø First Generation Computer (1941-1955 A.D.)
